Day 1 - Arrival
On day one, your guides will meet you at Rome Fiumicino airport at 1pm in the International Arrivals Hall, T3. We won't have time for lunch, so please ensure that you have something to eat before the meeting time.
Once our group has gathered, we'll begin our journey along the winding roads towards Tuscany, reaching the elegant villa Bonello by the afternoon. There will be some time to have a rest and freshen up, before we head out for a sunset session in the rolling hills of Val D'Orcia.
We'll rise and shine early on day two, before the first light of dawn. The aim will be to photograph the famous villas of Tuscany, Podere Belvedere. The morning mist glowing in the golden rays of sunrise makes this one of the most beautiful vistas in Europe. We'll make sure that we're there in time to catch the moment that the morning light kisses the landscape.
From there, we'll head south from San Quirico for another shooting session, before returning to the villa for a hearty, well-earned breakfast. We'll then meet for a photo processing masterclass followed by lunch.
In the afternoon, we'll photograph sunset at the famous Villa Gladiatore, a filming location for the blockbuster movie, 'The Gladiator'. We'll then take a leisurely stroll through the quaint idyllic medieval village of Bagno Vignoni, with its steaming open air hot spring bath, before returning to the villa for a gourmet dinner and a relaxed evening by the fireside.
On day three, we'll witness the sunrise near the walls of Pienza, where we'll capture the morning mist swathing the hills and villas in a mystical atmosphere. From there, we'll make our way into the town itself, exploring the narrow backstreets whilst savouring freshly baked pastries over freshly brewed coffee. Foodies will delight in the chance to visit a small wine ship near the main plaza, where we'll meet one of the most famous sommeliers in all of Italy. Here, we'll taste some fine wines and enjoy the local sheep's cheese, Pecorino di Pienza, which was rumoured to be a favourite of Lorenzo Medici himself.
From Pienza, we'll return to the villa for another masterclass, followed by a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, we'll haed back to the glorious green hills of Val D'Orcia for another wonderful sunset.
Sunrise on day four will be spent at Crete Senesi, a vast landscape of fabulous colours, rich with the magical essence of Tuscany. Thereafter, we'll drive to the city of Siena, where there will be an opportunity to engage in the art of street photography. Characterised by easily distinguishable brick buildings, Siena is Italy's loveliest medieval city, located over three hills with its heart at the centre of the huge Piazza del Campo, where the Roman forum used to be. We'll have a quick breakfast here as lunch later on will be at a traditional trattoria.
We'll then head to Volterra, a walled mountaintop town that dates from the 7th century BC. The buildings here are lined with medieval frescoes, which make for fascinating compositions. We'll spend the sunset hours strolling the enchanting streets, capturing the fading light of day. We'll then return to the villa for dinner.
In the morning on day five, we'll make our way back to Val D'Orcia for a sunrise shoot at the Cappella della Madonna di Vitaleta. Surrounded by cypress trees, this chapel makes for a wonderful subject illuminated by the rays of the morning sun.
We'll then return to the villa for breakfast, followed by another photography masterclass.
After lunch, we'll discover the beautiful medieval city of Montalcino, famous for its prestigious wine Brunello and glorious views. We'll spend our time capturing the sprawling vistas from the town's walls, before strolling the streets in the evening to revel in the magical atmosphere.
On this day, we'll visit two ancient Etruscan towns – Sorano and Pitigliano – which have been astonishingly preserved. The surroundings are rich with historical and artistic memories of the area's glorious past. We'll capture the charm of these two settlements with their labyrinth of meandering alleyways and staircases, dotted with flowering plants and mossy red bricks. We'll stay in these two villages until after sunset, when we'll return to our villa for dinner.
This will be our final day in Tuscany. We'll rise early for a sunrise session, before heading back to the villa for breakfast and packing our things to go. After that, we'll make our way back to the city of Rome, for a 2pm drop-off at the airport.
