Set sail for Svalbard on this one-of-a-kind expedition that will see you scouting for polar bears in this incredible Norwegian archipelago. This photography tour takes place in September, when the never-ending daylight of summer begins to give way to night. We'll see a return of spectacular sunrises and sunsets, characterised by warm, golden light and even a hint of snowfall.

This region is best known for its stunning wildlife, including whales, dolphins, Arctic foxes, reindeer, a wide range of sea birds, fur seals and indeed, polar bears. We'll witness cubs spending time with their mothers as they fatten themselves up in preparation for the upcoming hibernation, hunting on the pack ice that stretches across the open sea.

We'll sail aboard a 3-masted barkentine Antigua equipped with Mark V Zodiacs for shore landings. The ship contains 15 cabins with ensuite facilities for ultimate comfort. The ship is designed to withstand the icy waters and will be the perfect way for us to see the wonders of Svalbard. Our experienced crew will steer us into the best positions for wildlife and landscape photography, both from the water and on land.

Over the course of 11 magnificent days, we'll cruise the fjords of Svalbard with our cameras at the ready, capturing all of the amazing wildlife within their natural habitat. The journey is scheduled to begin on September 2 when we board the vessel at the quay in Longyearbyen, and will conclude on September 12 when we return to the dock.

During our sailing, there will be numerous opportunities to make excursions to land aboard the Zodiacs. We'll traverse the icy tundra, capturing the Arctic landscapes that abound in this beautiful, frozen region. You can expect to see reindeer, geese and Arctic terns, amongst a myriad of other wildlife.

As the conditions around Svalbard are unpredictable, this photography tour has a flexible itinerary. Our guides will work with the ship's crew to ensure that you'll be at all the best places at all the right times to take advantage of the weather and the light.

This 45 kilometre long glacier is a sight to behold, featuring many waterfalls formed by glacial meltwater. We'll sail close to its icy walls, photographing the waterfalls as they cascade down its face.

This inlet on the west of Spitsbergen is home to ringed and bearded seals. We'll make a few shore-landings to ensure that you'll take home beautiful photos of these magnificent animals.

Seven islands

Polar bears and walruses abound in the northernmost part of Svalbard. There will be plenty to photograph around here, including wildlife and spectacular sea ice.

NW Spitsbergen

The northwestern area of Spitsbergen is dotted with glaciers, majestic mountains and islets. We'll spend some time here keeping a lookout for beluga whales, sea birds, polar bears, walruses and harbour seals.

This spectacular strait houses a magnificent dolerite cliff face which is home to hundreds of thousands of guillemots. We'll sail close to the rocks, photographing these birds nesting in their colony whilst keeping an eye out for whales!

This beautiful fjord yields absolutely breathtaking beauty when bathed in the golden light of sunrises and sunsets. We'll cruise on through, enjoying the landscapes all around, as we spot polar bears, sea birds, beluga and minke whales.
