Itinerary

Day 1 - Meetup in Marseille

Our foray into this purple paradise begins on day one, when we'll meet at Marseille airport at 13:00. From there, you'll be collected by your photo guide and transferred to your accommodation. There'll be a chance to relax and get settled in, before we head out for a leisurely stroll through the Valensole plateau, an area that embodies the quintessential image of Provence in summer. We'll photograph the vibrant purple lavender fields, sunflower-filled valleys, and peaceful hilltops as the sun gets lower on the horizon, bathing the landscape in beautiful golden and pink hues.

Day 2 - Walking on the streets of Marseille

On day two, we'll return to the Valensole plateau for a wonderful sunrise shoot at the spectacular lavender fields, before returning to our accommodation for a momentary rest. There will be an opportunity to review our photos and to do a little bit of processing, before we head out to walk the streets of Marseille, taking in all of its magnificent architecture.

In the afternoon, we'll make our way back to the lavender fields as the magical golden hour sets in, before finally giving way to the blazing colours of the sunset.

Day 3 - Blooming lavender

On the third day of our travels, we'll begin with a sunrise shoot amongst the rows of lavender, trying different compositions beneath the ever-changing light.

The afternoon will be even more exciting, as we meander through the towns surrounding Provence, each with their own quirks and delights. In Banon, we'll stop to taste the local cheese, savouring the flavours as we explore the cobbled streets. At Abbey de Valsaints, there will be a chance to photograph 600 different types of roses, while at the historic town of Sault, you'll be able to catch a glimpse over the valley where the golden wheat fields meld with gorgeous carpets of lavender.

Day 4 - Gordes, Abbaye de Senanque, L’isle sur la Sorge

We'll rise early on day four for a glorious sunrise shoot near the exceptionally charming town of Gordes, which is known as one of the most beautiful villages of France. Thereafter, we'll head to the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque, where lavender fields in full bloom will make for a myriad of compositional delights.

After breakfast in the beautiful town of L’isle sur la Sorge, best known for its maze of canals, we'll explore the dramatic and haunting medieval ruins of Oppede-le-Vieux, an abandoned village that has been steadily restored by the locals.

As the evening comes, we'll walk along the breathtaking Ochre Trail, taking our time to capture the magnificent streaks of red and gold in the cliffs of this disused rock quarry.

Day 5 - Aix-en-Provence

This will be our final full day of shooting. We'll return to the perfumed lavender fields for a sunrise shoot before making our way to bustling streets of Aix-en-Provence for breakfast. The city here is usually abuzz with activity and it makes the perfect place to practice street photography. We'll visit the local markets as well as meet with local shopkeepers and artisans, all whilst immersing ourselves in the art of candid photography.

In the late afternoon, we'll head back to the lavender fields of Valensole where we'll have the chance to refine our photographic techniques, capturing the golden glow of the sunset as it spills across the tips of the flowers.

In the evening, we'll enjoy one final dinner as a group before a post-processing session in which we'll review the images that we've taken during the week.
