Day 1 – 10 April
We'll begin our expedition to the remote wilderness of Patagonia in the Argentinean city of El Calafate. You'll fly via Buenos Aires by Aerolineas Argentina to El Calafate airport. Your recommended arrival time will be provided at a later date.
On arrival, a shuttle bus will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to your accommodation where you'll have a chance to relax and freshen up before meeting the rest of the group in the evening for a welcome dinner. We'll be treated to a special Patagonian dish known as Cordero Patagonico – roasted lamb served on a local parilla. You'll have a chance to get to know your fellow travellers as you enjoy this delicious meal, while your guides go over the itinerary for the days ahead.
In the morning of day two, we'll head towards the massive Perito Moreno Glacier, capturing its icy blue walls surrounded by warm autumn foliage. In the afternoon, we'll take a leisurely stroll through the Patagonian rainforests, framing the mountains the Perito Moreno Glacier in the background amidst the stunning native trees as the sun sets, casting the sky in blazing red hues.
On day three, we'll rise early for breakfast and journey towards the small village of El Chaltén within Los Glaciares National Park. It will take approximately 3 hours before we reach our accommodation, where we'll settle in for the next two nights.
There will be a chance to freshen up before we head out to catch the sun setting over a nearby canyon. The area makes for stunning photographic opportunities, with sprawling panoramic views across the Andes and the crystal blue waters of the Fitz Roy river flowing below in a meandering line towards the mountains.
We'll get up bright and early on day four for a sunrise session back at the canyon, capturing the first rays of light as they touch the rugged outlines of the Andean ridge.
The rest of the day will be spent traversing the Lago Desierto area, where we'll encounter numerous waterfalls cascading along the glacial rivers. The aim will be to find stunning compositions with the rugged mountains and glistening glaciers serving as a breathtaking backdrop.
For sunset, we'll make our way towards a scenic point along the Fitz Roy mountain range, where we'll have the perfect view of the rugged granite peaks.
On this day, we'll have an early breakfast before continuing on our adventure towards the Torres del Paine National Park. This will involve a border crossing from Argentina into Chile.
There will be plenty of wildlife to spot as we near the peaks of Torres del Paine, including pumas, guanaco, ostriches and armadillo. We'll take our time capturing the spectacular flora and fauna that is so characteristic of these incredible surrounds.
We'll make the last part of the journey upon a gravel road, before arriving inside the park to check in to our accommodation. There will be an opportunity to freshen up before we head out for a sunset session in the wilderness at a nearby location.
