Church Mountain

During summer, Iceland becomes the land of the midnight sun. It is the perfect time to stay up all night and explore. This photo is of the majestic Mt Kirkjufell, situated on the north coast of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, near the town of Grundarfjörður. It is said that Kirkjufell is the most-photographed mountain in all of Iceland. The mountain changes colours every season, from lush green in summer to a glittering white in winter. Disruption

Cracks in the ice sheet below the iconic Mount Kirkjufell at the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, West Iceland. Although this area looks beautiful during all seasons, winter is when it really shines. You may recognise this scene from the popular TV series, "Game of Thrones", where it was named the "Arrowhead Mountain". In Icelandic, "Kirkjufell" translates to "Church Mountain". Fire and Ice

The fiery pit to Earth's very core at Holuhraun in Bardarbunga, just north of Vatnajokull glacier. Iceland sits on top of two tectonic plates and has 30 active volcanic systems running throughout the island.
