Overview
We'll sail through the sensational fjord system of Scoresby Sound aboard our polar expedition vessel, the MS Freya. The landscapes in this part of Greenland are diverse, characterised by towering icebergs, glistening glaciers, majestic mountains and a variety of wildlife. You'll have the chance to photograph Arctic hare, seals, seabirds... perhaps even musk oxen and polar bears!
The time of year during which this expedition takes place is September, when the days remain long but the nights have returned. The lighting is ethereal and there will opportunities to photograph the Aurora Borealis, dancing in the sky over mystical icebergs.
This workshop is drone friendly, with numerous treks on-shore during which you'll be able to photograph the surrounding landscape and to practice aerial photography. Imagine how beautiful the icebergs will look from the air, with a clear view beneath the crystal blue depths to their cores hiding beneath!
Itinerary
2 September 2018
We encourage all participants in this workshop to arrive at Keflavik International Airport in Iceland by this day and spend the night in a hotel in Reykjavik, so that you will be ready to go in the morning of the next day.

Day 1
The adventure begins! We'll make our way to Reykjavik airport for our domestic flight to the country's northern city of Akureyri. From there, we'll transfer to the harbour, where we'll embark upon the MS Freya at around 4pm in the afternoon.
The ship will depart once boarding is complete.

Day 2
We'll sail across the Denmark Strait, on our journey towards Greenland. There will be wonderful opportunities to photograph marine life such as whales and orcas as we traverse the seas.

Day 3 - 9
We'll arrive in Greenland by day three. Over the next week, we'll spend our days sailing through the icy blue waters of Scoresby Sound, drinking in its magnificent landscapes.
Due to the unpredictability of the weather in this region, our itinerary will be largely dependent upon the conditions and the movements of the icebergs.
Every morning, our guides will prepare you for the day ahead, explaining our shooting locations and how best to prepare for them.
Depending on the weather, we may also travel to the spectacular Kejser Franz Joseph and Kong Oscar Fjords for breathtaking views of the mountains all around.

Day 10
On day ten, we'll begin our journey back to Iceland, sailing across the Denmark Strait. There will be amazing opportunities to photograph the whales and orcas, as well as seabirds, all along the way.

Day 11 - 13 September 2018
On day 11, we'll arrive back at Akureyri in Iceland by 9am, where we'll transfer to the local airport for a domestic flight back to Reykjavik. If the weather cooperates, then we'll arrive back at Keflavik International Airport by 1pm, in time for your flight home or onwards to your next destination.
