Itinerary
Day 1 – Fuzhou – Xiapu
You'll arrive at Fuzhou Airport (FOC), where we'll gather together as a group. Once everyone has arrived, we'll make our transfer to the harbour county of Xiapu, where we'll check in to our hotel. There will be some time to unwind and explore the area at your leisure, before we meet together for a welcome dinner in the evening at our hotel. Over a meal of delicious local delights, you'll get to know your fellow travellers a little better as your photography guides go over the itinerary with you for the days ahead.

Day 2 – (Dongan Island – Beidou – Dongbi)
We'll spend the next five days based in Xiapu as we explore this enchanting estuarine gateway to rural Chinese life.
On this day, we'll sail by boat to the nearby Dong'an Island for an early morning sunrise session with the fishermen as they pull their nets. From there, we'll make our way to the Beidou fishing village to capture stunning photographs of the nets being made.
We'll finish the day with a sunset session at Dong Bi beach, a hidden gem of a place for photography where you'll have amazing views of the local farmers at work along the wet, sandy coast.

Day 3 – Xiapu (Mantoushan – Shajiang – Yangjiaxi)
We'll begin day three with an early sunrise shoot at Mantou Shan, one of Xiapu's many islands that is surrounded by bamboo poles which are used for cultivating seaweed. They make for interesting compositions juxtaposed with the warm hues of sunlight reflected in the water.
From there, we'll visit Shajiang for a magnificent view over the porphyra farms and the famous 'S-Curve' Bay, which is formed by endless rows of bamboo sticks. There will be a chance to explore and capture the ins and outs of the local village life before we head to nearby Yangjiaxi, where we'll have a sunset session with the fishermen launching their fishing nets and farmers working beneath stately banyan trees.

Day 4 – Xiapu (Beiqi – Sansha – Xiaohao)
On day four, we'll get up early for a sunrise session at Beiqi, a small fishing village with a fishing port and a fertile mudflat beach that faces towards the vast sea. We'll photograph the fishermen at work as they set out on their fishing boats amidst lanes of smooth, reflective water between hundreds of stiff, bamboo poles for cultivating seaweed.
In the afternoon, we'll head to Sansha Town, where there'll be the opportunity to capture the locals making fermented fish sauce, one of the delicacies of the region. We'll then return to the mudflats, this time at Xiaohao, for a sunset session as the light fades over the sandy beach.

Day 5 – Xiapu (Yangjiaxi)
We'll rise and shine early on day five for another sunrise session with the local farmers within the beautiful wooded area of Yangjiaxi. The banyan trees make for glorious frames as the morning sunlight pours through, creating ethereal scenes.
In the afternoon, we'll return to one of the many stunning mudflats around Xiapu for another sunset session amongst the bamboo.

Day 6 – Xiapu (Xiaqingshan – Nantang – Zhutan Island)
Sunrise on day six will be at Xiaqingshan, where a spectacular, long concrete bridge straddles the bay, making for wonderful scenes. From there, we'll be perfectly placed to continue our exploration of the mudflats around Nantang, where we'll capture the fishermen working amongst colourful round fishing nets.
The afternoon will be spent sailing by boat towards Zhutan Island, where we'll base ourselves for a sunset shoot into the evening.

Day 7 – Xiapu – Huian
We'll spend day seven in Hui'an county, where the women wear unique traditional dress as they go about their daily lives. They make for distinctive subjects with their yellow bamboo hats and colourful shawls as they perform their hardworking roles on the farms, salt fields and fishing boats.

Day 8 – Huian – Yongchun
On this day, we'll travel to Dapu, often described as the 'Town of Incense' in China. This beautiful province has over 296 companies making over 300 different kinds of incense, a craft that was borne centuries ago and continues to this day. We'll have extraordinary opportunities to capture the incense being made, from beginning to end.

Day 9 – Yongchun – Longyan – Yongding
We'll begin the morning on day nine with another session at Dapu, capturing the intricacies of incense making, before heading back to our hotel. From there, we'll pack our bags and check out, as we journey to the wonderful Round House of Fujian province.
Our first stop will be the Yongding Round House of the Hakka clan. These uniquely shaped rural dwellings may only be found in these mountainous areas of Fujian. As dusk envelopes these earthen structures, they make for fascinating subjects set amongst the lush, green landscape.

Day 10 – Longyan – Nanjing
We'll begin with a sunrise session at the Yongding Round House on the morning of day ten, before making our way to the Nanjing Round House.
After shooting at Yongding Round House in the morning, we will travel to Nanjing Hakka Round House group, where four sites have been named on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Made from natural resources, these historical buildings make for fine photographic opportunities as the sun goes down on the horizon.

Day 11 – Nanjing – Xiamen
On the morning of day eleven, we'll rise for a sunrise session at the Nanjing Round Houses, before packing our belongings and heading back to Xiamen in the afternoon.
There will be some time to stroll about this beautiful port city, taking in the sights, before we enjoy one final dinner together as a group.
