Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival

You'll arrive at Keflavik International Airport in Iceland. From there, you'll transfer to the capital city of Reykjavik by Flybus and check in to your local hotel. There will be some time to rest and to explore the city at your leisure, before meeting with the rest of the group at 7pm for a welcome dinner. Over a delicious meal, you'll be able to get to know your fellow travellers a bit better as your guides explain the itinerary for the days ahead.

Day 2 - Reykjavik , Kulusuuk , Tasiilaq

The adventure begins! We'll catch a plane in the morning from Reykjavik domestic airport, arriving by noon in Kulusuk, East Greenland. From there, we'll set sail for our base camp in Tasiilaq, the largest settlement in Greenland. During the journey, there will be great opportunities to photograph the marine life, such as whales, as well as sea birds that call the ocean home.

Day 3 - Ikateq , Knud Rasmussen Glacier

On day three, we'll head out to the Ikateq area, where our first stop will be an abandoned old American base. The dilapidated buildings make for a stark contrast to the stunning scenery all around.

As the sun arches higher in the sky, we'll make our way to the Knud Rasmussen glacier in the far northwest of Greenland, which feeds the Wolstenholme Fjord. This glacier makes for spectacular images. There may even be the opportunity to photograph ice calving away from the glacier itself, splashing into the sea.

Day 4 - Ikasartivaq

On day four, we'll spend our time sailing through the Ammassalik and Ikasartivaq fjords, stopping by the desert settlement of Quernertorvetit. There will be an opportunity to visit the Tinit hunter settlement, where we'll photograph the locals going about their daily business.

Day 5-6 - Tiniteqilaaq

Over the next two days, we'll immerse ourselves in the settlement of Tiniteqilaaq, where we'll have the incredible chance to stay in a local Inuit house. The highlight will be when we sail out into the icy Sermilik fjord to capture the colossal icebergs that float serenely in its depths.

Day 7 - Kuummiut

On this day, we'll set sail early in the morning, stopping at the Inuit hamlet of Kuummiut. Here, we'll spend our time exploring the coastline, photographing the locals as they return from their hunting and fishing trips.

From there, we'll make our way to the Ikassa fjord, where icebergs line the rocky coastline. They make for an impressive sight, with majestic mountains as a stunning backdrop. Depending on the conditions, there may be the option of hiking to the tongue of the glacier, to view the patterns of the ice up close. Thereafter, we'll enjoy a picnic lunch on the ice before making our way back to Tasiilaq.

Day 8 - Tasiilaq

On day eight, we'll spend most of the day ashore, exploring the nearby valleys and the town. We'll be treated to a special drum dance organised by the locals just for us, before heading out again in the afternoon for a sunset session amidst the glistening blue glaciers.

Day 9 - Kulusuk , Reykjavik, Iceland

This will be our final day of shooting. In the morning, we'll head to Kulusuk, where we'll walk around the settlement in search of interesting compositions. After lunch, we'll begin making our way back to Reykjavik.

Day 10 - Transfer to Keflavik Airport

Sadly, this day marks the end of your photography workshop in East Greenland. After a heart breakfast, you'll make your way by Flybus back to the Keflavik International Airport in Iceland for your flight home or onwards towards your next destination – pockets full of memory cards bursting at the seams with pictures and with a lifetime of memories that you'll never forget.
