Our daily schedule will be flexible, though will consist of sunrise shoots, day sessions with a packed lunch to go, leisure time in the afternoon, then a sunset session. In the evenings, we'll have dinner together with the group followed by photo discussions and processing master classes.
DAY 1 (Oct 15): Arrive at Lake Bled
Our photography adventure begins when we meet in the capital city of Ljubljana as a group. Once we have gathered, we'll make our way north towards Lake Bled within the Julian Alps. This is one of the most picturesque locations in Slovenia, with all the perfect ingredients for spectacular photography. Its emerald waters reflect the clouds in the sky, while an island in the centre of the lake features a beautiful church, surrounded by the rugged peaks of the mountains all around. We'll wander around the lake, capturing it from numerous angles as the sun sets low on the horizon.
In the evening, we'll gather as a group for dinner, during which you'll get to know one another a little bit better. Your photo guides will discuss the itinerary for the days ahead and you'll have the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.
DAYS 2-5 (Oct 16-19): Lake Bled and Julian Alps
Over the next few days, we'll explore the Gorenjska region, one of the most beautiful areas in Slovenia. Situated in the northwestern part of the country, a large portion of it consists of protected national park, brimming with photographic opportunities.
There will be many more chances to photograph the shores of Lake Bled, from which we'll have our sunrise sessions. We'll also venture up to a fairytale medieval castle that overlooks the waters of the glacial lake, perched atop a steep and rocky cliff face.
On one of the days, we'll visit the hidden Vintgar Gorge, with its fascinating boardwalks, beautiful waterfalls, rivers and spectacular rapids. You'll have a wonderful time practicing your long exposure photography skills here, freezing the movement in each frame.
Nearby in the heart of the Julian Alps is the blue-green Lake Bohinj, where reflective waters make for astonishing compositions of the autumn foliage and trees all around.
Aside from the landscape, we'll also spend some time experiencing the local culture of the lovely villages all around the lake, where rural life is complimented by the stunning natural scenery.
DAY 6 (Oct 20): Departure from Slovenia
Day six marks the final point of our journey. After breakfast, we'll head back to the airport in Ljubljana, where we'll say our final farewells. From there, you'll be able to catch your flight home or onwards towards your next destination – legs tired but memory cards full of pictures to remember your travels in Slovenia during autumn!
